Personal Project

The Problem

People with ASD can feel disconnected from the rest of the population and also may not feel connected to their own community.

The app needs to be to be user friendly for anyone everyone who may need to access the app for themselves or for someone else. NeuroWell needs to have accessible functions and focus on being ASD friendly.

I conducted comprehensive research on autism spectrum disorder, focusing on the various developmental, behavioral, and neurological aspects, aiming to better understand its complexities and contribute valuable insights to the scientific community.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder characterized by difficulties in social interaction, communication challenges, and restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities. -CDC and APA

Some symptoms that people with ASD experience:

-Difficulty making and keeping friends

-Difficulty communicating

-Sensory sensitivity

-Difficulty understanding emotions

When researching ASD, I found that there were disparities and gender inequality regarding resources for support, access to diagnosis, and treatment. Knowing this, I wanted to make sure all groups of people were represented and that there was an emphasis on gender equity.
